You Never Know Where Your “Symptoms” Will Lead….

I have had several interesting Homeopathic cases this past year. Here are 2 Homeopathic cases, I want to share with you for 2 reasons:

  1. Sometimes you don’t have the whole picture and you don’t know what health condition you are addressing when selecting a Homeopathic remedy, whether it be an Acute or Chronic case. You only know what the person or animal is experiencing at that time.
  2. You don’t know where a Homeopathic case is going to take you in order to address the root of the cause to help someone.

When someone contacts me to see if Homeopathy can help them, I do what is called a Discovery call to see if I could help the person or animal with a Homeopathic remedy.

Homeopathic Case #1 – Bruising

I received a call this past fall from a 70-year-old woman asking me if I can help her with bruising easily on her arms and legs? I told her I could help her, there are Homeopathic remedies for bruising, but didn’t know if I could help her address why she is bruising. She went on to say that her Dr. told her it’s because her skin is thin and it is part of old age; all elderly people bruise easily. Don’t you just love it when a symptom or feeling is labeled “it is part of ……..?” I told her, it may be a long shot to address why she is bruising easily, however, I was game if she was game to see what we can do. She said she wanted to proceed and have the Homeopathic consultation.

Later that day, I was thinking that I know some older people that did not have thin skin. So, why is it automatically thought of as part of aging? I already knew that low estrogen levels cause our skin to thin out and lose elasticity, causing wrinkles. So, I googled what causes thin skin?

Googles definition: Fragile or thin skin that tears easily is a common problem in older adults. Aging, sun exposure and genetics all play a role in thinning skin. Certain medications, such as long-term use of oral or topical corticosteroids, also can weaken the skin and blood vessels in the skin.

We all know anyone that is 40 years old or older has been exposed to the sun for periods of time. It could be genetics as to why someone can have thin skin. Then I read medications can cause thin skin. Bingo! How many people are taking some sort of medication, let alone older people?

As I am reviewing her health form, she states the bruising started approximately 4 years ago and progressively gotten worse. The first question that pops into my mind is, what happened 4-5 years ago. This is called Etiology (never well since something has happened). When someone tells you that their symptoms started a particular time, you need to investigate more as to what happened at that time. I always ask questions going back much further in time than what they tell me. People remember significant events, but it is often some small thing that set everything in motion. Symptoms don’t just show up all of a sudden. They have been in the works longer than when they are expressed on the body. As I continue going through her health form, I see that she started taking a Pepcid 4 years ago. Bingo!

So, I quickly Google: Side Effects of Pepcid. I read the side effects of Pepcid are not common, but may include: constipation, diarrhea, fatigue, dizziness, weakness, mood changes, headache, insomnia, muscle pain or cramps, joint pain, dry mouth, nausea, or vomiting. It goes on to say seek emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Then at the very bottom of the write up it says, Stop using famotidine and call your doctor at once if you have a serious side effect such as: easy bruising or bleeding; fast or pounding heartbeat, etc.

Based on this investigation, in order to stop the easily bruising. Homeopathic remedy/ies should be selected for the bruising and for why she is taking the Pepcid.

We go over her health form, and I asked her if she had the bruising before or after taking Pepcid? She states it was around the time that she started taking Pepcid that she was getting bruising. We were not able to confirm for sure, if taking Pepcid was the real reason she is having bruising. My next line of questioning was what were your symptoms at that time for the Dr. to recommend the Pepcid? She tells me that she had a cough from heartburn, indigestion. I then asked her if she still had the cough? The Pepcid, did decrease the cough, but she still has it and she must drink water or take cough drops to stop her from coughing. I explained to her that the approach I’d take to address her bruising easily was to take a Homeopathic remedy for the reason she was prescribed the Pepcid and evaluate the impact on the bruising.

We set up a Homeopathic remedy dosage game plan with Arnica Montana (Arn) 30c to take for bruising and for the Homeopathic remedy that fitted her cough symptoms – Corallium Rubrum (Cor- R) 200c. Within a week’s time her cough was much better, and her bruising has improved, especially with not having any new bruises forming. We continued with our game plan with her taking these 2 Homeopathic remedies. Within 1 months’ time her bruising was almost gone and she was no longer coughing. She was eager to stop taking the prescribed Pepcid. I recommended that she talk to her Dr. about how to go about doing so. She was able to start cutting back on her Pepcid, which she did on her own.

Who would have ever thought that my client was creating her bruising and was able to resolve it naturally and safely.

Homeopathic Case # 2 – Kidney/Bladder Infection or Back Pain

Another client calls me stating that she has pain across her lower back. She says “I don’t know if it is a kidney/bladder infection or if I did something to my back.” I asked my client if she has any peeing problems in the last few days? She said “not recently, but a week ago, I couldn’t hold my pee, it would just come out.” I said “it can be either a kidney infection or a back issue.”

I proceeded to take her case by asking her to tell me what she was experiencing. She stated she had pain across her lower back and it was worse when she moved. I used Homeopathic remedy symptom pictures to guide me through the next set of questions to determine if she actually needed a kidney/bladder remedy. She responded that she did not have any burning when she urinated or any other kidney infection symptoms. I ruled out treating the pain with any kidney/bladder infection remedies.

I selected the Homeopathic remedies Arnica Montana (Arn) 1m and Bryonia Alba (Bry) 1m, because her pain symptoms were worse with movement. She felt some relief within a few minutes after taking 1 dose of Arn and Bry.

This is a good example to share because no matter what the health condition is, you still select the Homeopathic remedy according to the symptoms the person is exhibiting and what makes the symptoms better or worse.

When someone tells you, they have symptoms whether they can label the health condition (UTI, dizziness, etc.) or not. You select the Homeopathic remedy according to what the symptoms are and what makes the symptoms better or worse. When I hear a health condition labeled, certain Homeopathic remedies come to my mind automatically. I still insist on going through a formal method of questioning in order to ensure I select the correct Homeopathic remedy. The questions are based on what symptoms are present. And I will ask questions to clarify which Homeopathic remedy fits their symptoms the best.
