What is Homeopathy?

Homeopathy is a medical science that uses extremely small, non-toxic doses of potentized plant, mineral, animal or chemical substances to stimulate the immune system to bring about healing in the body. These substances are referred to as remedies.

The word “Homeopathy” means – similar or like illness, what is called The Law of Similars: What will make a healthy man ill; will make an ill man healthy.  Which means: when a healthy person takes repeated doses of substance over a period of time, they will start exhibiting symptoms – called a Proving.  When these symptoms match a sick person with the same symptoms, they will bring about healing of the body; by taking this specific substance.

The basic system was formulated and verified by Samuel Hahnemann, a German physician, in the early 1800s.  He gave up the practice of medicine when he found many of the therapies of his time to be ineffective and extremely harmful.  He did not resume practice until he discovered, in Homeopathy, a means to help gently, rapidly and reliably.  Homeopathy’s astounding success in both acute and chronic symptoms has resulted in its widespread acceptance in North and South America, Europe, and India.
