Could Homeopathy Be the Natural Solution You’ve Been Looking For?
Does this Sound like Your Blepharitis Symptoms?
When my client reached out to me with her recent diagnosis of Blepharitis in both eyes, I could hear the frustration in her voice as she described experiencing a range of uncomfortable symptoms, including redness, swelling, and persistent itching of the eyelids. She also mentioned excessive tearing, with the sensation of warm tears, and the unpleasant experience of waking each morning with her eyelids stuck together. After a thorough review of her symptoms, I recommended the homeopathic remedy Graphites 30c, to be taken once daily at bedtime.
In just three days, my client has reported noticeable improvements in her eye condition. The redness and swelling have significantly reduced, and she is no longer experiencing the same level of itching. While she still wakes up with her eyelids somewhat stuck together, they are now easier to clean with warm water. I advised her to continue taking Graphites each night at bedtime until her eye symptoms are completely resolved. This case underscores the importance of individualized treatment, as even a small adjustment can lead to substantial improvements in a person’s quality of life.
What is Blepharitis?
Blepharitis is a prevalent eye condition characterized by inflammation of the eyelid(s), typically impacting both eyes and, importantly, is not contagious. This condition causes the edges of the eyelids to appear red, irritated, swollen, and scaly, resembling dandruff. It often arises from infections or blockages in the oil glands known as meibomian glands. Understanding the causes and symptoms of Blepharitis is crucial for effective management and treatment.
There Are Two Types of Blepharitis:
- Anterior Blepharitis occurs on your eyelid’s front exterior (eyelashes come out of your lids)
Causes of Anterior Blepharitis:
- Acne rosacea
- Allergies to contact lens solution, eye drops, or makeup can cause irritation
- Dandruff (seborrheic dermatitis)
- Dry eyes
- Lice or mites in eyelashes (demodicosis)
2. Posterior Blepharitis occurs when the oil-producing meibomian glands under your eyelid produce thickened oil.
Causes of Posterior Blepharitis:
- Meibomian gland oil from meibomian glands doesn’t flow freely
- Acne rosacea
- Dandruff
Blepharitis Symptoms
- Swollen eyelids and/or greasy eyelids
- Edges of eyelids are red or dark color, irritated, itch or burn
- Crusting eyelashes and eyelid corners, causing your eyelids to stick together (agglutinated)
- Flakes of skin collecting around your eyes and eyelids
- Dry eye or excessive tearing
- Light sensitivity (photophobia)
- Blurred vision
- Loss of eyelashes
- Eyelashes that grow toward your eyes instead of away from them (trichiasis)
- Excessive blinking
Chronic Blepharitis Symptoms
My client consulted with me about her red and inflamed eyelids. She told me her doctor told her a couple of years ago that she has Blepharitis. My client stated that since she gets these eye symptoms one to two times a year, her doctor has classified her Blepharitis as “Chronic Blepharitis.” She went on to tell me both of her eyelids have become very red, inflamed and itchy. She said that when she has a severe case of Blepharitis, she can experience cracked skin or pustules along the margins of her lids. My client stated her eyelids (lashes) are stuck together (agglutinated) each morning.
I had my client take the homeopathic remedy Antimonium Crudum 30c in a Homeopathic Remedy Solution Bottle with 10 succussions every night at bedtime. Antimonium Crudum was selected because it fits my client’s Blepharitis symptoms, but also because it is for chronic Blepharitis.
My client called me a few days later, telling me her Blepharitis symptoms have overall decreased. Her eyelids are no longer red and inflamed and they are less sticky in the morning. I told my client to continue taking Antimonium Crudum 30c every night at bedtime until she no longer has the eye condition. I explained to my client that each time she takes Antimonium Crudum when she has these Blepharitis symptoms, over time, the Blepharitis symptoms will occur less often and will be less intense. However, the best way to completely address chronic symptoms is, as in this case, Blepharitis, to have a complete health history taken to help select a 6c homeopathic remedy. The 6c homeopathic remedy will help boost her immune system, as well as address why she keeps experiencing recurring Blepharitis.
Homeopathic Remedies for Blepharitis
A homeopathic remedy is selected from a list of several homeopathic remedies used for Blepharitis according to the Blepharitis symptoms you are experiencing. As stated above, you may need to have a complete health history taken to select a 6c homeopathic remedy to be taken once a day to address why you keep having recurring Blepharitis symptoms.
