Fistula

Find out how homeopathic remedies helped three people deal with bladder, abdominal, and anal fistulas without needing surgery. These are real stories with real outcomes.

Homeopathic Remedies for Fistula: 3 Real Client Cases That May Sound Like Yours

Fistulas can appear differently in each person, and the same goes for remedies – what works for one might not work for another. Homeopathy isn’t just about getting rid of symptoms, it’s about working together with your body to trigger your immune system and help you heal properly, from the inside out, for good.

I want to share with you three real stories of people who had different kinds of fistulas – some had problems with their bladder, others with their abdomen, and others with their anus. Each person had their own set of symptoms and needed a homeopathic remedy plan that was tailored just for them. If you’re dealing with a fistula or know someone who is, you might find that one of these stories sounds a lot like what you’re going through.

Case Scenario #1: Bladder Fistula and Recurring UTIs – A Natural Approach to Avoid Surgery

What Is a Bladder Fistula?

A bladder fistula is like a wrong path that connects the bladder to the bowel. This path lets bacteria from the bowel get into the urinary tract, causing repeated infections that are hard to get rid of unless the fistula is fixed. When bacteria from the bowel enter the urinary tract, it can lead to urinary tract infections (UTIs), that keep coming back. These infections can be tough to treat because the bacteria just keep coming back through the fistula. So, to really get rid of the infections, the fistula needs to be taken care of.

HER STORY: A 55-year-old woman consulted with me after dealing with a bladder fistula for more than a year. She is on her second round of antibiotics in just one month because she kept getting urinary tract infections (UTIs), again. Now, her doctor was suggesting that she have surgery to fix the fistula.

She was unsure about what to do. She knew that surgery could be risky – if the fistula wasn’t fixed properly, she might get more urinary tract infections, have to take more antibiotics, and possibly end up with the same problem again. Since homeopathy had worked for her in the past with other health issues, she wanted to see if a natural approach could fix the fistula without needing an operation.

So, I told her that when it comes to homeopathy, we tackle things one step at a time. First, we had to deal with the UTI symptoms that were currently active. Once we got those under control, we could move on to the next step, which was to use homeopathic remedies that would help her body heal the fistula – basically, the tunnel that had formed between her bladder and bowel. The goal was to get that passageway to close completely, and we could only do that once the initial symptoms had cleared up.

Her Fistula Symptoms

She had some issues about a year before we talked. After using the bathroom, she saw two drops of blood and felt a bit of pain. She also had this weird feeling like there was air in her bladder, which is called pneumaturia. This happens when gas from her bowel got into her urinary tract through a small opening, or fistula. When it first started, she didn’t have any of the typical symptoms you’d expect with a urinary tract infection. Those symptoms showed up later on.

Her UTI Symptoms

Before she came to see me, she started to notice that her urine had a really bad smell; it was the only sign that she was getting a urinary tract infection. She didn’t feel any burning when she peed, and she didn’t feel like she had to go all the time. The antibiotics would make the infection go away, but it would always come back. Her doctor told her that the UTIs would keep happening until they fixed the fistula.

Digging Deeper: What Happened a Year Ago?

In homeopathy, we look for what’s called “Etiology -Never Well Since” the emotional or physical event that may have set the body’s decline in motion. I asked her what was going on in her life about a year and a half ago, and she got really emotional. It turned out she had been taking care of her 90-year-old mother all by herself for a long time. None of her siblings would lend a hand, not even for a day. And then her mother had just passed away, which was still really tough for her to deal with.

The past year had been utterly overwhelming for her. Whenever her mother’s health took a turn for the worse – whether it was a UTI that led to hallucinations or a sudden spike in blood pressure, she was the one who had to step in and handle everything. She felt like she was shouldering the entire burden alone, with every little issue her mother faced relying on her to resolve it. As she put it, “everything depended on me to address it, and it all fell on my shoulders.” The weight of this responsibility had started to take a physical toll on her, causing internal tremors and making her hands shake at the mere mention of anything medically related.

Since her mother’s passing, she had been deeply depressed, unmotivated, tearful when alone, and still experiencing anxiety tremors around health issues. This emotional picture was just as important as the physical symptoms – in homeopathy, they are inseparable.

The Homeopathic Remedies Selected

After reviewing her full health history, I selected three homeopathic remedies:

  • Benzoicum Acidum (Benzoic Acid) 30c – taken in a Remedy Solution Bottle (RSB) with 10 succussions, as needed for the strong-smelling UTI. She was instructed to repeat it whenever the urine odor intensified.
  • Kali Arsenicosum (Kali Ars) 6c – taken in a Remedy Solution Bottle with 10 succussions, once nightly at bedtime, to address the medical anxiety driving her internal and external tremors.
  • Graphites 30c – to begin once the UTI symptoms resolved, targeting the fistula itself and helping the body begin filling in the tunnel between bladder and bowel.

The Remedies Begin Working

After just one week, she gave me a call to say that she was already starting to feel a bit better. The depression that had been weighing her down was slowly beginning to lift, thanks to the nightly doses of Kali Ars. She also cries less often when she is by herself, which was a really positive sign. And the Benzoic Acid was doing its job, addressing the smell of her urine with just two doses a day – one in the morning and one in the evening. I had her stop taking the Benzoic Acid once she no longer had the UTI.

Ten days later, she said she was feeling a lot better in many ways. She wasn’t as anxious and her tremors were happening less often. She also had more energy, which meant she could do normal things like cook dinner and do her laundry. “It might not sound like a big deal,” she said, “but considering how bad I was feeling, this is a really big improvement for me.”

UTI Returns After Finishing the Antibiotic

She called me a few days later, saying she thought the UTI was coming back – and this was right after she’d finished her antibiotics. To be honest, I see this kind of thing all the time. The medication just hides the symptoms; it doesn’t actually fix the problem. So, when the antibiotics stop working, the body usually goes right back to where it was before.

I had her start taking Benzoic Acid again, twice a day, with 10 succussions each time. She also mentioned that she’s been feeling a new kind of pressure in her bladder, you know, that uncomfortable feeling like she really needs to pee, but hardly anything comes out. So, to help with that, I added the homeopathic remedy Apis Mellifica 200c to her routine, which she takes at bedtime from a Homeopathic Remedy Solution Bottle (RSB), without any succussions.

When the Emotional Picture Shifts, So Does the Remedy

Two weeks later, she reported that the Apis had significantly reduced the bladder pressure and the Benzoic Acid has been addressed the UTI. But something else had shifted emotionally. She was snapping at family members, feeling frustrated, and found herself dwelling on how her siblings had never helped during her mother’s illness.

“I’d do it all again without hesitation,” she said, “but it would’ve been great if they’d lent a hand just once in a while.”

It was clear that she needed to change her emotional approach. So, I stopped the Kali Ars and instead started giving her the homeopathic remedy Natrum Muriaticum (Nat Mur), in a Remedy Solution Bottle with 6c potency and I had her take it once a night with 10 succussions. The reason I chose Nat Mur is that it’s often used when someone is struggling with grief, dwelling on the past, and quietly seething with frustration, especially when they feel like they’ve been wronged in a way that can’t be fixed.

Time to Address the Fistula Directly

Three weeks had passed when she called to let me know that the UTI had cleared up, and now she was experiencing more air in her bladder again. This was a sign that it was time for us to concentrate on treating the fistula.

I had her stop taking Benzoic Acid and instead started using Graphites 30c in a Remedy Solution Bottle, succussing it 10 times before each use at bedtime. I chose Graphites to help with the air in her bladder and to encourage her body to start healing the tunnel that had formed.

It was clear that the Nat Mur was having a strong emotional impact. My client had stopped dwelling on her siblings and instead had adopted a more accepting attitude. “It’s all done and over with, and I just can’t change it,” she said to me. This kind of acceptance is a really powerful sign that the homeopathic remedy is working as it should.

Graphites Works – And the Healing Continues

After taking Graphites for two weeks, she didn’t notice any air in her bladder at all, which was a bit surprising. “Can it work that fast?” she asked.

Yes, it’s definitely possible. homeopathic remedies actually work together with your body’s immune system, helping to trigger its own natural healing process. You might start to feel some progress pretty quickly, but to completely heal a fistula tunnel, you need to be consistent and keep up with the homeopathic remedies over time. She continued to check in regularly over the following weeks as we slowly made changes to her remedies. The feeling of escaping air has got less and less common. Her fistula was finally starting to heal – it was a big breakthrough. For the first time in more than a year, she felt like things were looking up.

Case Scenario #2: Abdominal Fistula – When a Firm Lump Becomes a Draining Fistula

A Lump That Changed Quickly

A woman consulted with me with a small lump on her upper left abdomen. It was about the size of a dime and located just below her breast, where her bra band usually sits – roughly 1½ to 2 inches down. When she moved the lump, it hurt, and it felt really firm when I touched it.

I chose the homeopathic remedy Calcarea Fluorica (Calc Fluor), in a 30c Remedy Solution Bottle, with 10 succussions, to be taken once every night before bed. This remedy is really good at dealing with hardened tissue and growths that are bony or fibrous. It’s often used for these kinds of issues.

The Lump Transformed into a Fistula

Just a couple of days later, she called back with a notable change. The lump now looked more like a boil – flatter, but covering a wider area. More significantly, it had begun oozing an offensive, yellow pus from two separate openings. It was still painful with movement. This change in the symptom picture told me we were now dealing with an active fistula – and we needed a different homeopathic remedy entirely.

Selecting the Right Homeopathic Remedy for a Fistula with Pus

I stopped the Calc Fluor and introduced two new remedies to work together:

  • Silica (Sil) 200c – taken in a Remedy Solution Bottle with 10 succussions, once nightly at bedtime. Silica is a powerful remedy for the body to expel foreign matter and pus, and to promote tissue regeneration. I explained to her that if Silica did not address the fistula, we will switch to the homeopathic remedy Lachesis Muta, a remedy indicated when pus discharges from two openings, which is a classic Lachesis symptom picture.
  • Calcarea Sulphurica (Calc Sulph) 30c – taken in a Remedy Solution Bottle with 10 succussions at bedtime, to support continued drainage of pus from the fistula.

Exciting Progress: The Fistula Is Draining

She was over the moon when she rang back, the news was fantastic. Silica was doing its job, and the fistula was draining out all the nasty pus. The smell had really toned down, and the pus itself had changed to a much lighter yellow, which was a great sign that her body was healing just like we wanted it to. It was a real relief to see things were going in the right direction. The fact that the pus was draining and the smell was fading was a clear indication that the homeopathic remedies were working, and that was a huge positive. I advised her to keep taking both Silica and Calc Sulph, and to keep a close eye on how they were affecting her, so we could see what changes were happening.

When Progress Stalls: Adjusting Succussions to Keep Healing Moving

A few weeks had passed when she got in touch again, saying that the fistula had stopped getting better. The lump had stopped shrinking and only a tiny amount of pus was coming out now, just a few drops. She had been taking both homeopathic remedies exactly as she was supposed to, but it seemed like they weren’t working anymore.

This is a completely normal thing that happens – and it’s really important to get your head around it if you’re using homeopathy. So, when a remedy seems to stop working, it doesn’t necessarily mean you need to switch to a different one. A lot of the time, all it needs is a bit of a boost to make it stronger.

I made a small change to the Silica remedy, adding just two more succussions, going from 10 to 12. And that’s all it took – within a week, I got a call back saying the pus was draining again, and this time it was happening actively.

As we moved forward, I explained the plan to her: our main goal was to get rid of all the pus in the fistula and then help new tissue grow to fill in and close the tunnel. Silica can help with both of these steps. If the new tissue needed a little extra help to form, we had the homeopathic remedy, Calendula 30c as a backup option to help completely seal the fistula. Healing a fistula naturally takes time – but for this client, working with her body rather than against it was producing steady, measurable progress.

Case Scenario #3: Anal Fistula Homeopathy – Does This Sound Like Your Experience?

How an Anal Fistula Often Begins

A client’s husband called me about an anal fistula – also called a perianal fistula – that he had been living with for several years. He originally thought it was an abscess. His doctor explained what often happens: an anal gland becomes blocked, typically by fecal bacteria, and fails to drain properly, forming an abscess. Over time, if left unresolved, that abscess can create a small tunnel connecting the inside of the anus to the skin surrounding it. That tunnel is the fistula, and the opening is where the abscess drains.

HIS SYMPTOMS: My client had a fistula that kept filling up with pus. When the pus wasn’t coming out, the area around it would get red and swollen, and it would feel really hot. He would also get a sharp, pounding pain. That’s what was happening when he came to see me – his fistula was hurting a lot and felt like it was throbbing. The pain was intense and wouldn’t go away, making him feel pretty miserable.

I listened to his symptoms and chose the homeopathic remedy Myristica Sebifera 30c. He takes it from a Remedy Solution Bottle, with 10 succussions, every night before bed.

Myristica is a popular homeopathic remedy for anal fistulas. It helps by boosting the immune system, which then works to get rid of the pus and speed up the healing process. This means the fistula tunnel can close faster. It’s like your body gets the signal it needs to start fixing the problem. The idea is that Myristica stimulates your immune system to do its job, and that helps to clear out the infection and close the fistula. By using Myristica, you’re giving your body the support it needs to heal and recover from an anal fistula.

As a supportive homeopathic remedy for those moments when the throbbing pain became intense, I also had him take the homeopathic remedy Belladonna 200c ,which was made up in a Remedy Solution Bottle and taken with 10 succussions as needed for acute pain episodes.

First Results: More Pus, Less Pain

A week had passed and he gave me a call to say that he thought Myristica was actually working – but now there was even more pus coming out. I told him not to worry; this was a good thing. It meant the remedy was doing what it was supposed to do, which was to bring out all the pus that was stuck inside the fistula tunnel. He also state the pain had really eased off a lot. I advised him to keep taking Myristica, 10 succussions every night.

When Progress Slows, We Adjust

Two weeks had passed and he decided to check in again. Thankfully, he was still getting better overall, but he had one bad episode the day before where Myristica didn’t help with the throbbing pain, so he had to take Belladonna instead. I asked him if the pus is still oozing out as it was when the last time, we spoke? No, the oozing has slowed down again. I explained that Myristica isn’t strong enough to continue the healing. How do I know? The oozing has slowed down again and Myristica didn’t address the throbbing pain as it did before. Two signals, same message: it was time to increase the succussions from 10 to 12.

One of the best things about using homeopathy is that it gives us a lot of control. Instead of changing homeopathic remedies, we can just make small adjustments to what’s already working. For example, after making a change, a client reported that the throbbing pain had stopped and the pus draining out was lighter in color – both good signs that the healing process was still on track, even ten days later. This approach allows us to build on what’s working, rather than starting from scratch. By fine-tuning the homeopathic remedy, we can help the body continue to heal and recover, which is a really powerful thing.

What Healing a Fistula Looks Like Over Time

As he kept taking Myristica, and increased the number of succussions by two each time he stopped making progress, we saw the following signs that the anal fistula was getting better and closing up:

  • THE PUS HAS CHANGED TO A DARK BROWN COLOR, which is a good indication that Myristica is now releasing old blood from deeper within the tunnel, a very positive sign that things are moving in the right direction.
  • THE INFECTION HAS CLEARED UP AND THERE’S NO MORE PUS, which means the body has finally overcome the active infection.
  • YOU’LL SEE A FLASH OF BRIGHT RED BLOOD AT THE START – this is a good sign that healthy blood is flowing to the area again.
  • THE TUNNEL CLOSES – WITH MYRISTICA, new tissue forms to fill in the fistula tract, and it gets sealed permanently. This is how the body heals itself, and Myristica helps make it happen, supporting the growth of new tissue to close the tunnel for good.

Each of these stages represents your body moving forward in the healing process – not being forced or suppressed, but genuinely working with your own immune system to repair the damage from within.

Homeopathic Remedies Can Also Support Recovery After Fistula Surgery

If surgery is the path you are taking, homeopathy can still play a meaningful role. Homeopathic remedies can support your body’s healing process post-operatively, helping to reduce inflammation, promote tissue repair, and address any residual symptoms that linger after the procedure.

Every Fistula Case Is Different – And That’s the Point

What these three cases illustrate is one of the most fundamental principles in homeopathic practice: the diagnosis is only the starting point.

Two people can both have an anal fistula and need completely different remedies. A bladder fistula paired with grief and anxiety requires a different approach than one without those emotional layers. The symptom picture- physical and emotional – shapes every decision.

Dealing with a fistula, whether it’s in your bladder, abdomen, or anus, can be really tough. But homeopathy is a different approach that works with your body, rather than fighting against it. It’s not a quick fix, it takes time, patience, and you have to really pay attention to what’s going on. However, as you can see from the people who have tried it, it’s totally possible to make some real progress and actually get better – and it’s all natural.

Every fistula has a story behind it.  And every healing journey begins with being truly heard.
