The Dreaded Snow Shoveling

Some of us have already experienced shoveling snow on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving here on the East coast.  As we continue moving through the winter season, there will be more snow shoveling and ice picking for most of us.  There are a few homeopathic remedies you want to have on hand for body aches and pains.

Arnica Montana is the number one homeopathic remedy to take for all injuries or traumas to the body (muscle, joints, etc.) causing swelling and inflammation (anti-inflammatory remedy).  I like to use Arnica in conjunction with the homeopathic pain remedies listed below to help the body heal quicker.

Rhus Toxicodendron is for over use of the muscles, joints, etc. causing stiffness and tightness. You know when you feel stiffness and or tightness when starting to move again from sitting down for a period of time. But once you get up and start moving you are better for a period of time (rusty gate syndrome). I recommend using Arnica Montana 200 c/x or 1m along with Rhus Toxicodendron 200 c/x or 1m (use the same potency strength for both remedies).

If you have been doing lots of snow shoveling and are having aches and pains that are worse from the slightest movement Bryonia Alba is the homeopathic remedy needed. These are the symptoms that are better or are lessened when sitting or lying still and as soon as you start to move the pain increases. Use Arnica 200 c/x or 1m and Bryonia Alba 200 c/x or 1m together (using the same potency strength for both remedies).

Magnesia Phosphorica is another remedy to have on hand for body aches, spasms and or twitching in muscles. These symptoms can come on from pain depleting the magnesium levels. Or when magnesium levels are low there will be achiness of the body from not doing any form of exercise to create the achiness. You can use either Magnesia Phosphorica 30 c/x potency or the 6x Cell Salt tablets to address the spasms and twitching’s. You will be taking Magnesia Phosphorica in conjunction with a homeopathic pain remedy.

These homeopathic remedies can be used anytime we over strain our muscles, whether it be from shoveling snow, working in the garden or even from just exercising. That is the beauty of using homeopathic remedies; each remedy can be used to address several health issues.
