When I was training for the New York City Marathon, I stepped in a pothole and lost my balance, and almost fell. Luckily, I caught myself and in doing so, I injured my neck. The first 2 cervicals in my neck (C1 and C2) went out of alignment. I felt dizzy and nauseous at the same time. The Homeopathic remedy I took was Bryonia Alba for my dizziness and nausea that became worse due to movement. Along with taking a homeopathic remedy, I went to my chiropractor and had Myofascial Release (MFR) work done.
What is Dizziness and Vertigo?
The terms dizziness and vertigo are often used interchangeably. However, they are considered as two different types of sensations.
Dizziness is often described as a feeling of being off balance and is difficult to move when you’re dizzy. You may feel like you’re going to fall or may even stagger when you walk. You can feel dizzy for various reasons. Many times, you are feeling dizzy because of environmental conditions or an underlying health condition. While Vertigo, on the other hand, is a sensation that you feel as if you or your surroundings are moving. You will feel a spinning, whirling, or tipping sensation. Vertigo is most likely caused by your inner ear (vestibular system). Vertigo can also come from your brain and spinal cord (central nervous system).

How Homeopathy Can Help Dizziness from Inner Ear
You may have experienced dizziness because you had fluid in your internal ear from a cold, allergies, plane flight, or when the barometric pressure changes. When you’re experiencing fluid in your ear, it is due to the Eustachian tubes being swollen and now no longer capable of relieving the pressure changes within the ear. These are the small tubes that run between your middle ears and the upper throat. This causes your equilibrium to be off and makes you feel dizzy.
A homeopathic remedy can decrease the swelling in your eustachian tubes and allow for increased airflow, which will alleviate the dizziness. The homeopathic remedy needed to reduce your swollen eustachian tubes is called Kali Muriaticum.
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV)
A few years ago, my husband was experiencing dizziness, every time his head was turned to one side for some time. It started when he was under the kitchen sink repairing a leak. The next morning, he woke up dizzy when he turned his head to look at the clock. He was so dizzy he could barely walk, even while holding onto a wall or dresser. He was also feeling nauseous. He had to sit in a chair very still, and couldn’t even move his eyeballs; that’s how dizzy he felt from movement. My husband had what is called Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV). This is when the tiny crystals in the inner ear are out of place. These tiny crystals in the inner ear make you sensitive to gravity and help you keep your balance. When the crystals are out of place, they can send false signals that cause dizzy spells.
In the meantime, I have been giving him a homeopathic remedy called Bryonia Alba. When he gets dizzy, feels spacy, and has problems focusing, I have him take the homeopathic remedy Phosphorus. The reason why I use these two remedies for his symptoms is that they specifically treat the symptoms he was exhibiting at that time. Certain exercises can be done to reset the crystals in the ear.
Life has You in a Tailspin Causing Dizziness
I can get dizzy from time to time when I have a lot of stuff going on in my life that would put me in a tailspin. It does not matter if it was positive or negative stuff that I was stressing out about. This is usually from feeling overwhelmed, with too many things going on in my life at that time. Whether it be lots of stuff going on in my family (positive and negative) or from juggling a heavy client schedule and other activities all going on at the same time. There were times that I felt so overwhelmed, that it has caused me to feel dizzy. Therefore, I take a dose of the homeopathic remedy called Calcarea Carbonicum and it helps to help me feel calmer and get back on my feet.

Addressing Dizziness and Vertigo Homeopathically
Homeopathic remedies are often taken in acute situations when you are experiencing symptoms. A few doses of a homeopathic remedy in a 30c or 200c potency can be enough to provide quick relief. When dizziness and vertigo are chronic, it is best to treat these sensations with a homeopathic remedy 6c potency, taken daily. In doing so, you will be addressing the health condition that is causing chronic dizziness or vertigo. Such as Meniere’s disease, head injury, heat exhaustion, low blood pressure, sugar, or other causes. This provides the best opportunity for the homeopathic remedy to address the underlying cause of the symptoms.
