Lyme Disease and Homeopathy

Lyme Diseaseis starting to be ubiquitous, we all know someone that either has it or has had it.

Lyme Disease is difficult to diagnose. There are blood tests but they are not perfect.  Lucky are the ones that develop the bulls eye rash because, then you can be certain you have Lyme Disease. For others the symptoms – achy joints, headaches, fatigue, mental fog are also symptoms of many other afflictions. For some these symptoms appear to be Lyme Disease, but the Lyme test comes back negative.  For this reason, Lyme Disease may go undiagnosed and untreated for long periods of time.

In homeopathy, I believe the best approach is to treat the tick bite itself. Over the years, I have used a homeopathic protocol to negate tick bites with great success. This protocol is to be used soon after removing the deer tick.

Many people however, do not see the tick and therefore will not follow this protocol. If you have been diagnosed with Lyme Disease, have Lyme like symptoms or have an old case of Lyme Disease that has recurring symptoms, homeopathy can still help addresses the impact of the Lyme Disease. For an older tick bite, a different Homeopathic approach is used. A homeopathic remedy is selected according to the symptoms the person or animal is exhibiting at the time (i.e., pain, stiffness, changeable symptom, feeling lethargic, etc.). This is called the symptom picture. The homeopathic remedy would be taken one to several times a day, depending on the individual situation. Sometimes, in addition to the physical symptoms Lyme Disease has mental and emotional symptoms associated with it (i.e. anxiety, depression, problems focusing, etc.). Homeopathic remedies can be selected to help these symptoms in addition to the physical symptoms.

Homeopathy can help Lyme symptoms whether antibiotics have been previously used or not.

Can I use Homeopathy and antibiotics at the same time?

I do not recommend starting both antibiotics and a homeopathic remedy at the same time.  If you are starting antibiotics, you can wait until you have finished that round of antibiotics and then start a homeopathic remedy for your Lyme Disease symptoms.  The only exception I make to this is, if you have been taking antibiotics for a period of time and are not getting results from them, you can start to take a homeopathic remedy in conjunction with the antibiotics.  This is done through taking the homeopathic remedy at an opposite time of when you take the antibiotic.

Lyme Disease can be a serious and tricky disease with symptoms that appear, disappear and then reappear or change and reappear.  For this reason, it can also be tricky to treat and that is why, in this situation, I recommend that you seek out professional guidance from a certified homeopathic consultant.
