What? You Took Lycopodium for Your Cough?
Several weeks ago, I had been burning the candle at both ends and had started to clear my throat several times a day for a few days. I took a few doses a day of the homeopathic remedy Causticum (mucus on the vocal cords/clearing throat). No surprise to those who know me, I just kept on working. For me this means, I just keep on talking all day long to my clients, helping them in selecting a homeopathic remedy for their condition. The non-stop talking caused me to develop a dry tickling cough, especially when talking, I switched to the homeopathic remedy Rumex Crispus (dry tickling cough/worse talking). A few days later, still having a dry tickling cough, I started to notice a post nasal drip, (this is a good thing because, the symptoms are moving up into my sinuses) and was having mucus stuck in between the roof of my mouth and my nose (nasopharynx). The mucus was blocking my air exchange when talking so, I topped Rumex Crispus and started Lycopodium (nasopharynx) several times a day. Lycopodium really improved my cough by making my cough more productive and I was able to blow my nose. Of course, I did not stop working (talking).
I’m sharing my story to illustrate that sometimes it is an uncommon homeopathic remedy that we need.
As you can see, I changed my remedy as my symptoms changed. Finally, it was the stuck mucus that led me to Lycopodium. Just to make sure I’m being clear; the Lycopodium would not have helped me when my cough first started, because I was not exhibiting the same symptoms. In fact, if I had taken a break and stopped working my cough would have probably been addressed by either of the first two remedies. But because, I didn’t stop working my symptoms continued to develop leading me to the Lycopodium.
The message I want to leave you with this month, is don’t hesitate to choose a homeopathic remedy for it’s less well known symptom picture attributes, as long as it fits the symptoms you are exhibiting.
